Cytogenetics of chromosome pairing in wheat.

چکیده
Meiotic chromosome pairing in Triticum aestivum is controlled by genetic systems promoting and reducing pairing. The pairing of homoeologous chromosomes is prevented principally by the activity of a single locus (Ph) distally located on the long arm of chromosome 5B. In certain hybrids, supernumerary chromosomes (B chromosomes) from Aegilops species can compensate for the absence of chromosome 5B preventing or reducing homoeologous pairing. Temperature-dependent variants and colchicine sensitivity have been used to show that there are at least two stages in the G1 of meiosis at which the occurrence of meiotic pairing is determined. Wheat may differ from lily in the detailed organization of meiosis.

Chromosomal constitutions of five wheat – Elytrigia elongata partial amphiploids as revealed by GISH, multicolor GISH and FISH
A combination of meiotic pairing analysis and in situ hybridization (genomic in situ hybridization [GISH], multicolor GISH [mcGISH] and fluorescence in situ hybridization [FISH]) of five Triticum aestivum (Linnaeus, 1753) - Elytrigia elongata (Podpěra, 1902) (2n = 10x = 70) amphiploids was employed to investigate the genomic constitution and relationships between wheat and alien chromosomes. متن کاملUpdate on Chromosome Organization and Dynamics Chromosome Organization and Dynamics during Interphase, Mitosis, and Meiosis in Plants
Chromosomes are key building blocks of eukaryotic genomes. Studies on chromosome organization and dynamics not only address questions of how chromosomes behave and what mechanisms control this behavior but also examine how chromosome organization and dynamics affect gene expression and genomemaintenance. A number of important studies on chromosome organization and dynamics have been conducted i...
متن کاملSubstitution of rye chromosome 5r for chromosome 5b of wheat and its effect on chromosome pairing.
HEXAPLOID wheat normally exhibits homologous pairing, forming only bivalents at meiosis. However, in the absence of chromosome 5B, homoeologous as well as homologous pairing occurs ( SEARS and OKAMOTO 1958; RILEY and CHAPMAN 1958; RILEY and KEMPANNA 1963). In 5Bdeficient hybrids between wheat and related genera, the level of chromosome pairing is increaesd (RILEY, CHAPMAN and KIMBER 1959). In w...
متن کاملMathematical comparison of homologous and homoeologous chromosome configurations and the mode of action of the genes regulating pairing in wheat.
Analyses of frequencies of chromosome configurations in wheat and wheat hybrids are extended to include data from hybrids of three chromosome-pairing mutants of wheat with Aegilops variabilis and from autotetraploid Triticum monococcum. These data confirm and extend the theory proposed by Driscoll, Bielig and Darvey (1979). Homoeologous and homologous chromosome pairing are fundamentally identi...
متن کاملComparison of classical cytogenetics versus interphase FISH in diagnosis of mosaic form of Turner syndrome
Abstract Background: Mosaic form of turner syndrome that represented by two or more cell lines in an affected individual, often has limitation for detection with classical cytogenetic methods. The present study was carried out to compare the efficiency of interphase Fluorescence In Situ Hybridisation (FISH) and cytogenetic techniques in detection of mosaic form of turner syndrome. Method...
